iTunes-iPhone sync is just not ready for heavy usage

September 28th, 2009 · No Comments · Blog, English

Techcrunch’s Devin Coldeway wants iTunes lite – I just want it to work like a program in the year 2009 is supposed to work.

Issue #1 (and I really don’t know why they won’t fix this): I am listening to a track on my iPhone, for the sake of the example Vertigo by U2. Then I switch to an app. Or make a phone call. Then, when I hit play again on the remote or just via the home screen layover, some random track starts playing. When I enter the iPod-app, Vertigo is on display, so the app knows that was what I was listening to. But I get served some random track first. Seriously annoying and renders the headphone remote useless.

Issue #2: It was at CES three or four years ago when Bill Gates presented how content would flow from one device to the next as I move from breakfast to the bathroom mirror to the car to work. Why on earth does iTunes then not realize that when I connect my iPhone to the computer, I was in the middle of listening to Vertigo and offer me to continue listening on the computer? Is that too much to ask? In 2009? I don’t think so, but maybe that’s just me…
