Three years ago when we moved back to Hamburg we decided to not display the 800+ CDs in our living room anymore, since everything was digital anyway. That is a lot of CDs, I can tell you, we used to have a thin rack behind the door up the wall.
Anyway, it turns out that when digitizing one of my favorite albums the computer messed up. Stevie Salas Colorcode – Back from the Living started at track 7… a nightmare.
Never heard of Stevie Salas? I got into him since he played on T.M. Stevens’ Out of Control album, you know how I am, tracking down the other musicians to hear if they are any good and keeping track of them over the years. Anyway, Salas rocks and I did have the pleasure to see him live in the Logo, most likely a decade ago or so.
I would have bought a new copy of the disc, but it seems the one I had was a Japan issue I probably paid too much for at WoM. Remember World of Music? They had EVERYTHING! Every UK or Japan release and we paid for that, sure we did. But I couldn’t find the record, even on, ahem, Bittorrent. So, one objective during the move was if I’d encounter the boxes with CDs, have a look, maybe find it, save a day.
And I did. In the first box I opened, not too far down. And now it’s spinning constantly.
The video is kind of iffy, but the track… Just decent funky rock’n’roll.
Of course he is on tour too, but just like T.M. Stevens and Steve Lukather, he seems to think that Leverkusen and Mannheim are more important places to play than Hamburg…
