My post yesterday about the Microblogging Conference didn’t really say much, and to prevent conditions to go worse I stayed at home today. While following a discussion on the livestream, where journalists discuss there predicaments with the microblogging environment, I can’t help but be astounded. Cem noted yesterday that two popular twitter apps, twhirls and twibble, have there originis in or near Hamburg, and both innovators where present yesterday. Even more, while Tilo presented the new twibble on stage in the afternoon, Marco from twhirl enjoyed his panel a lot and as far as I was watching, didn’t say anything about a new release. Then this morning I woke up to a flood of messages in which Loic discussed the new twhirl release. Factor in Friendfeed’s continous technical innovations and, what’s more, Steve Rubel and Steve Gillmor’s habitual innovations, it seems that everybody is leveraging the twitter experience to new heights, except Twitter. I am not even talking about track, and of course I am glad the service is some what stable at the moment. But, with the media exposure from Mumbay, Gaza and the Hudson River landing, now would be the time to re-new the contracts with the users. Make the service really usable, introduce the business model even.
But no. Just the static everybody is so used to.
