Kevin over at jkOnTheRun has issued a challenge to himself, and asks who’s with him? The challenge is to keep the iPhone of the power grid aka not charging it with neither power adapter nor computer, instead using a solar charger.
I love it and I’m game, just had to get the tool. I can’t stay completely off the Mac I think, due to my podcast consumption, but I’ll try to download those too, let’s see what it will do to power supply. Usually, I get around 3 days out of the iPhone, that should be enough for the solar charger to reload, the manual says maximum 10 hours of sun shine. All I need to do now is get some rechargable batteries tomorrow, load up the iPhone once from the grid, and come January 1st we are good to go.
Chippy on the Solar UMPC blog has made some calculations on how much usage one might get from one charge which I will happy to confirm or not. We’ll see.
