So I dig House, the TV series. In fact I love it. While season two had barely finished airing in Germany I purchased season 3 on Amazon.com, the Regional Code 1 edition. Which was cool.
Last night I received a promotional email from Amazon.com Unbox, offering me season 4 for download with a reduced price. So cool, it thought, perfectly targeted. Not. Because, as it turns out, I need a US credit card for that – and a Windows OS. Granted, the Windows thing is to be expected, but the US credit card? Apparently, Amazon only looked at the item shipped, but not at the shipping address, which was in Germany. So they could have known that do not live in the US. I would have loved the download, no DVD taking up any rack space, but it is not supposed to happen.
Since the recommendation engine is also broken for me, I am now seriously thinking about taking my business elsewhere. Obviously not to the iTunes Store since they refuse to offer content in the original language in the local German store. But I will find another source, no worries.
Btw, if anybody is interested in season 3, RC1, and wants to save me the trouble of putting it up on ebay, drop me a line.
