Readwriteweb has a great article on what’s going on with Attention Economy and Attention Trust.
David Weinberger said that the solution to information overload is more information, fittingly the NBA and youtube released just one example a while back. Things are heating up I think: Yahoo Pipes is just one handy solution, others will follow. While dutifully recording my attention data I can’t wait to sell it.
Really?
Yes, and why not. I am being delivered advertising left and right without my consent, sometimes with sense, mostly not. As I said before, I have no problem with being offered advertising relevant to me – after all I am a consumer and am looking for stuff. For example a solution to my home media problem (CD collection too large for the den wall). But do I get it? Of course not.
Strangely, there is another oddity I noticed. With Steve Gillmor being mostly silent, he functions as a reverted gatekeeper: I find myself thinking that if he brakes his silence it HAS to be of importance. Sometimes that is right sometimes not. However, it does get noticed, people (thank God not only myself) are monitoring his feed and others for output. It also means that his output gets more relevance.
For my part, I’ll help you focus attention by piping a metafeed of all my blogs/podcasts once I figure out how to work it, for some reason the “tree” just doesn’ stick… (any help videos recommended?)
