Bestbuy, Payback, A&P, Douglas, Rewe, Wallmart, Lufthansa – everybody offers a card (with or without credit). Apart from customer retention, they intend to learn about your shopping behavior. They want to know when you pay attention to what.
Well how about this, because in the end, the only thing the companies are interested in when the attention economy is concerned is money: The Attention Card.
Let’s say a new bank or branch of a bank is founded which issues the Attention Card. It has a chip that contains as much data as I am willing to share and which I can configure at home at will.
When I use it in shops that participate, the shop can read this data and gain insight in my shopping behavior and act accordingly (e.g. issue a coupon for cat food). Furthermore, since I am using this card, I get e.g. a 3% bonus which I don’t save on my shopping but which is put into my account by the shop. Essentially, the same thing as the current cards, but I am in control.
What do you say Steve?
