I am 31 years old. I studied American Literature, Language & Culture in Hamburg, Germany, graduating in 2002 with an M.A. My minors were psychology and music. Quite interestingly my favorite subjects in school were maths and physics.
I began my working life when I was around 14, delivering all kinds of weekly or monthly papers. During my studies I worked 20 hrs/week so you have an additional 3 years of experience right there. I worked as a call-center agent with a couple of interesting projects. I handled orders, complaints and even sold outbound. After that I worked in the back-office of an internet start-up, handling data and surfing the web for up to 8 hours a day, browsing the pages for relevant information. It was there that I built the foundation for my tech savvyness of today. Finally, I worked at the front desk of a PR agency…
Which is where my life as a communicator began and has blossomed into what you see today. I did an internship to see if PR was something for me, then a short period as trainee and became a junior after that. I was lucky to grow with a small project that turned into a bigger one.
I have three years of PR experience: writing press releases, planning and organising press conferences, co-creating and creating PR-concepts, handling media contacts, media events, B2B-cooperations. Customers have been from tech, telco, automotive and travel industries. And of course, the last year involved a lot of learning about social media – reading about it and obviously participating.
During my studies I spent one year as an au-pair in Montclair, NJ, where I took care of three young boys. Combined with my studies, I can humbly say that my English is good. Give me a minute in a conversation and you’ll hardly notice an accent.
