eBay is jumping on the band wagon and has launched a German language podcast. While some sounds and one of the speakers sound a lot like the production of the Autopodcast, a service from the German car magazine “Autobild”, the 23 minute eBay “Wochenshow” sounds a bit less produced (thus more like a podcast) and has no sponsoring.
The team aims to bring eBay employees and eBay customers closer together and closer to the potential audience which resulted in a nice mix of eBay related sections. In addition, a audio chat was anounced for the future.
In the inaugural episode, a bit of history of eBay is touched. And when that part of the show starts the troubles begin. I am a picky listener and when the narrator pronounced the name of eBay founder Omidyar wrong my ears grew bigger. Of course, the PEZ-collection story followed, but what really made shiver was the pronounciation of dotcom through out the whole episode. The narrator constantly spoke about auctionweb dut come or eBay dut come (“dat kamm” in German Lautschrift) which is something that should not happen in these days of quality control.
