A very interesting discussion going on in the comments of Jeremy Pepper’s article at Global PR Blog Week 2.0 . In the article he looked back at the ‘PR is dead’ meme. I totally agree that PR will live long and prosper though most likely in a form different than 10 years ago. However, this will not be the result of blogs alone. Erin said:
Blogs are important, just as all other communications tools are important and need to be understood by PR professionals. But they’re a far cry from the one and only NEW PR. Basically, blogs are like a hammer: a really handy tool, but not the whole toolbox.

While blogs might be a hammer in the PR toolbox, few tools are more efficient than dominating a keyword in the search results. The emerging, but much maligned field of search engine optimization (SEO) is perhaps a better tool for PR.

You think so? I might be pushing it, put I’d put SEO in the marketing corner, which of course is invalid because in the end marketing and PR have to be connected and synced as well. SEO does get you attention and awareness, but not ‘text’, or being talked about. Or not?
