As you might have noticed, I have added a new logo to the right sidebar. Via Seth Godin’s blog, I came to a great episode of the Gillmor Gang Podcast, called Attention Gang. The discussion scratched the surface of the concept of attention, a concept which is put forth by Michael Goldhaber in a – IMO – sensational speach/article called The Attention Economy and the Net. It proposes a radical economy shift which I guess you can believe in or not, but it is quite plausible and ‘out there’, for the lack of a better word.
At the heart of the AttentionTrust are four principles:
Property
You own your attention and can store it wherever you wish.
Mobility
You can securely move your attention wherever you want whenever you want to.
Economy
You can pay attention to whomever you wish and receive value in return.
Transparency
You can see exactly how your attention is being used.
Not knowing what exactly Web 2.0 has in stock for me as an indiviual and everything concerning my creative property, attention, and data, I support the above principles.
