So, after some unsuccessful digging for the goings-on during last weeks SFO AttentionTrust/GestureBank event, I had to come back to the old-fashioned way to get information: ask somebody who might know.
I did ask and got the answer. Thanks. Denise Howell and Dan Farber reported on talks by Michael Goldhaber, Seth Goldstein and Steve Gillmor/Dave Sifry.
Gillmor’s return to AttentionTrust (as President) was formally announced as well as the launch of GestureBank 2.0 within the next two weeks. Readers who are interested should read Howell’s piece, I am not going to summaryze that. As I find myself juggling to manage my 24 hours of attention per day, I find the concept of gestures very interesting. And I agree with Dan Farber that the hard part will be to convince the billions of internet users that it is in their best interest to share attention meta-data.
It is not easily explained how the individual may profit from the collective data. What is needed is an analogy explaines attention/gestures and the river of indiviually catered information in three easy sentences which everybody can understand.
