As it is supposed to, the Keynote set the agenda for the day, a day of missed opportunities in my opinion. Christiane zu Salm held the keynote and talked mostly about herself, her recent tour of web 2.0 companies in the States, her being excited, her company FON. I got disinterested when she got her facts wrong, claiming Rocketboom makes 80.000 U$ while having production cost of 25.000 U$.
These numbers are baloney to begin with, secondly she didn’t offer a time-frame they are supposed to fit into.
She was obviously interested in how to make money with this new media and lauding WoW as the next big thing, bigger than myspace or youtube. Now, if she had said Second Life, she’d regained her credibility with me, but nah.
She was excited that she had been able to meet Steve Jobs and talked about telling him that she misses a search-function on the iPod. Apart from the fact that she most likely never heard of playlists my immediate thought was, oh right, and then you’ll miss the keyboard with which to perform the search.
At one point she was right on the money though, blaming the advertising industry to be oversleeping the goings-on.
However, as the opening keynote for the Podcastday, I thought she could have talked less about herself and more about podcasting.
